Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) workers today watched the proceedings of the 11th special Session of 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha. They were worried by Central government's decision who has replaced the MGNREGA with the new Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025.
MGNREGA workers said that there are several shortcomings in new scheme and dismantling MGNREGA scheme will badly effect us. Workers said that there is dire need to scrap this VB-G RAM G act as it creates uncertainty in our future life. This is anti-labour law. The central government has taken away the livelihood of labourers. This is a deliberate and dangerous conspiracy against us. The central government has taken away the bread from the mouths of MGNREGA workers.
